Hi, Have an LV ABA set #20-2241-1 that I bought used off the Internet.  It was supposed to run great. I put a new battery in the lead A-unit & lubed it.   It does seem to run well by itself (in conventional) but the only noise it will make is a screeching noise, (no bell, no horn, no engine sounds) whether moving or in neutral. It pulls between 1.8 - 2.1 amps at 16v on my Z4000 while moving.  Lights work ok, etc.   Where should I start to investigate my noise issue ?

A second question, I did not see in the owners manual if the rear A unit was a stand-alone engine or could only be run as an ABA set ?

Thks,

Rich

Well the wheels & pickups were sure dirty, but are now cleaned.  Have done the reset several times and still do not have a change in the condition, ie: no engine sounds, bell or horn.   I did switch my power wires just in case since I run Atlas track under the tree and I can't tell on the Atlas power terminal track which connection goes to the center rail and which goes to the outside rail(s).  Any other suggestions ?

Thank you.

Can't seem to control the screeching sounds, but I did turn the chassis volume all the way up & lo and behold - I have a full compliment of very loud sounds, ie: engine noise, crew chatter and when requested, horn & bell.  I can't hear the screech at this setting, so maybe it's drowned out.  Dialing the volume down brings the screech back & no "desirable" sounds are heard.

Thks for any input.

The screeching seems to be lessening, it's volume does rise & fall with the Z4000's voltage but now falls into the background when the engine is run and the engine sounds come on.  I did find the speaker was loose for some reason??   The smoke switch is off.   I'm setting this minor issue aside as we're taking down the tree now and tomorrow is my back-to-the-layout day !  A great way to start the New Year !

Thank you for your inputs.
