Item#20-20213-1 This is a 3rail2rail locomotive only offered as 3 rail, new this fall. Runs fine most of the time, then looses signal, get OUT OF RF RANG and CHECK TRACK message. When this happens it will not respond to any commands. when I do get it stopped I try backing thru the section of track. As i get to the section of track it looses signal again and then the headlight starts blinking, is that a code?  I am only getting a signal strength of 1or2 sometimes none. All seven other locomotives have no problem and read 10 in the entire section of track. I will call MTH tomorrow but thought maybe something came loose and I can take care of it myself.

Kind of sounds to me like it not picking up the power very well. Maybe  it's the wheels or rollers or both. The flickering is not code but probably  a electrical pick up problem... proto-2 engine carry on with the last command given even if the dcs signal is completely lost.

Do you have a continuity meter??

Good morning~I'm going to check track and wiring first. I suspect bad ground on this locomotive, It does have a 2-3 rail switch. The trucks on this are different than other MTH 2-3 rail, both trucks have the gears on the same side of locomotive. The insulated axles are on the same side. The section of track is the farthest from power and at a end of block.
