I've come to acquire an early MTH Camelback from 1999 with PS1. It's been years since I've operated one one these old systems. Assuming it needs a new battery before giving it power. Will a regular 9v be sufficient for initial operation?

Yes its ok to test with 9 volt battery but only temporary!!
Why only temporary?
Want to just check it out before offering it here for sale/trade
Because it's not a rechargeable battery. If it's left in too long, the battery could leak or explode due to being charged.
Thanks Barry - Will put one in and fire her up soon. Am curious about the sound in these early locomotives as I used to have Mike's first scale Hudson in 1996 and it had the 'clearest' bell I've ever heard. Really nice.
