Good evening all!

Well, I could use some tips again on yet another older MTH hudson, this time the NYC Dreyfuss with PS-1. I've had this unit running fine since I acquired it a couple months ago...until yesterday. while operating the trains, I moved the throttle to neutral to turn on a siding and bring out a diesel on the track. When I then cycled back through (with the throttle, not direction button) the hudson wont move. I removed everything else from the track, tried swapping the battery (though the battery is low it still shows 6 volts, tried a BCR, all to no avail. I get the two clanks when I start in reset, but no chuffing following the clanks. As mentioned, it was running just fine prior to this episode. I'll try to post a video, if it even comes through my email (it's a large file). Any initial thoughts? Thanks as always!

While checking the battery is good- Railking Hudsons are possibly coming up for zinc pest swelling of the wheels and drive block jamming the engine mechanically.

Check by removing the engine shell and spinning the motor by hand.

FYI, while that (RK-1113LP) is the printed product number on the box- make a note of the updated product number when searching MTH parts 30-1113-1 https://mthtrains.com/30-1113-1

If the problem is the PS1 chip got locked out/scrambled from attempting with a bad or low battery, there is a replacement chip.

Thanks Vernon! Yes, that's my Hiawatha - and it did indeed require a chassis replacement. This is different. Motor and wheels work fine with the shell removed and there is no swelling or zinc rot. The reset process upon start up is not cycling all the way through. I get the two bells, but then no chuffing. It certainly seems an electronics issue to me. I likely need the reset chip, but MTH doesn't have them anymore (at least at the moment). I'll call stockyard express to see if they have one. Else I may have to upgrade the unit....which I'll wait to do. Thanks again!

Just a suggestion......remove the sound chip and install a sound chip from another PS1 steam loco that runs correctly, and see if it fires-up.

I have three (3) AS-616 Baldwin diesel loco's that won't get past the two bell chimes on start-up. Took their sound chips out the other day, installed a sound chip from a SD40 loco that runs just fine and......all three Baldwins would run just fine on the SD40 chip!!!!

Could be the sound chip!!!!
