I was about to start a thread with this exact same title.  I have a ps2 railking challenger, 30-1194, that is making a humming noise fromthe front of the engine, near the smoke unit, even with the smoke off and the engine shut down.  Voltage to the track produces an electronic hum.  I'm afraid to cause damage running it, any ideas?

You can take the shell off and depending on the smoke unit model, if there is a gap between the fan motor and the housing you can see the shaft and bearing.  Add one drop of oil.  That should quiet the motor down.

If you can't see the bearing, you need to undo 2 screws to drop the fan motor housing and pull impeller and drop the oil from the top.

DO NOT do this with the engine on the track and powered.   G
