Hey guys,

I have a PS2 diesel whose horn is quite unreal, and vexing.  Question, can I download and replace just the horn sound, or must I replace all PS2 sounds.  I did a download of the PS2 for this particular engine and uploaded it to the engine, and while successful, it didn't change a thing.  Suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike H.

I know what you mean. It's all or nothing but.... unless you're running lash-ups  there's no reason why you can't find a file that you like. If it's a railking engine check out the railking files first. The hardest part is having to load the file before you can listen to it.  I know I have a few engines with different sound files than the original. What engine do you have? go for it, that's part of the fun..

If it's an EMD or a GE modern file, there's plenty of choices. It would help to know if you have a new 2 meg board for the newer larger sound files.

If it's a BN PS3 it's got much more memory and capabilities.

I have 2 different year MTH ES44s. The newer CSX has the larger board and got the narrow nose sound file put in with an excellent horn. My BNSF came first, and has the older 1 meg board. The sound file's horn in that engine drives me nuts. The narrow nose sound file won't fit!

I need to yank that board and put it into something else so I can install a newer board.

Thanks to Joe John and Greg.  Very Helpful comments.  I did successful upload a new sound file.  Does anyone know if MTH would have a listing of sound files by road name and type?  For example, all their C&NW passenger diesels?  It would greatly reduce the hit-&-miss aspect of the search.  Posted by Mike Hartings:
