Barry, I wish Ron would have videoed the train running for a while, after he regains full DCS control, to see if there is a short that reconnects itself and causes the train to take off again. Then it would be a no-brainer that a short is there. The video is what has me stumped.
I think Ron will eventually get to the bottom of it but in the meantime I'm curious whether the old tender with the other good engine was still locked in forward in conventional, and whether it now sees the watch dog. This might be a good time to unlock the forward direction. At one time tenders had a sticker on the bottom, if both stickers were the same than one can swap tenders. The timing tape a spacing definitely needs a little work.
I took the cover off the wiring harness. I believe I found the problem. Take a look at the burned red wire. As soon as I put power on the track it started to glow orange.
