I have a GP-9, RS-1 and a GS-4. GS-4 is on fixed 2 with everything working and the GP-9 & RS-1 are on Fixed 1 with sound issues. GP-9 sound just stopped working. No horn, cab chatter, engine sounds etc. smoke, lights, fwd, rvs, all that is working. RS-1 engine sound, smoke, lights fwd, rvs all working. No horn, cab chatter, no engine sound past idle change when moving. I have reset the remote, factory and feature reset all the engines. A zillion reboots, any idea what to check next.

For the GP-9 and RS-1 what model? Are they PS-2 5V or 3V engines?
I would do a battery test on them. If the batteries are weak, the factory resets may not be taking.
If 5V you may want to check the speakers for flaking or deterioration. Many of the older 16ohms speakers are susceptible to that. G
They are both 3v railkings. They are on track power every day for several hours so the batteries shod be good. Very the has been running fine up to an hour before it happened.
How old are the engines, if they approach 7 years old the 2.4V battery could be dead. Or, a harness/plug could be loose. Still worth doing the battery check by turning off track power and see if the sounds stay on.
If batteries are good, I would replace the speaker on the GP with no sounds. If still no sounds, the audio amp may be gone. Board needs to be tested and repaired as necessary.
For the other engine (RS-1), I can't explain it. Does it still have speed control? If not the tach is bad and that causes engine sounds to stay at idle, but I can't explain no horn despite other sounds. I would think this one needs to be tested out of engine, or else as stated earlier the batteries are dying and the resets are not taking.
After a factory reset, do you turn track power off and wait 10 seconds. Do you have to readd the engine after the factory reset? If not, we are still at a battery or battery harness issue. G
Thanks, I will check out the batteries.
