PS3 and DCS question-will a locomotive with PS3 function without any motors installed? The locomotive I have is a Legacy Cabbage (6-82457) and the board is bad because I’m a dingus and forgot to take a picture of the wiring. The diagram is really confusing and unhelpful so I plugged in something somewhere it shouldn’t have been and fried the board. Oops. So now it needs a new board, and I’m considering converting it to PS3 so I don’t have to waste my money on a TMCC/Legacy system. Not saying TMCC/Legacy is a waste in general, it’s just a waste for me because the Cabbage is the only Legacy engine I own. Better that I just get a DCS system.

To clarify-it’s not like I immediately tried to plug everything back in myself. I’m not that much of a dingus. As some of you may know, I had my Cabbage custom painted so the wiring had to be disconnected in order to get the shell off. I tried to take it to my LHS and they refused to touch it. That’s when I tried to do it myself.

Another question-if I convert this locomotive over to PS3 and I want to turn the prime mover sound off without turning it off for the entire lashup, how would I do that?

The idea is to convert to PS3 if possible and use MTH’s Veterans Cabbage sound set with the prime mover sound off in a lash up.

Any help would be much appreciated.
