Since I have completed upgrading my layout to MTH DCS operation, I am curious, can I upgrade my Williams locomotives with PS3? Also, I have a beautiful 3rd Rail Steam locomotive, can that be upgraded to PS3?

If they have DC motors with Flywheel, YES. Most do. G
Real old Williams locomotives sometimes have no flywheels, but anything fairly recent should have a flywheel and DC motors.
Yep, they do have fly wheels, so it sounds like a project ill tackle.
I've put PS/2 in a couple of Williams diesels, it's pretty simple, no surprises.
I agree with GRJ. I did a Williams Shark, and it was the easiest upgrade I've done. Suggestion: if you have a 2-unit diesel, get a Microtronics log-socket set, and run to the dummy unit to power headlight (in reverse) and coupler. Leave the solid couplers between the units.
That's great news because one of mine is a shark unit. Where did you purchase the upgrade kit?
I bought the PS2 kit through MTHRRC several years ago, probably about 2006. I recently replaced the battery with a Digikey supercap. The PS2 kits are no longer available, but MTHRRC is taking orders for the PS3 kit, to be delivered in a month or more. They are accepting orders at $149. If you are not a MTHRRC member, you can get a basic (no car) membership for $25, which is less than the extra price for a kit if you're not a member. I just ordered 2 by phone.
I'm actually considering selling the Shark with a set of 5 B&O streamliners, which have LED lighting.
