I'm going to add my first PS3 to my fleet and was told they don't have a battery, is this true? I haven't really read up much on PS3.

That is correct. But one thing to remember, turn on your transformer and let the engine sit for about 30 seconds before hitting the start button on your remote. The capacitors need to charge before running. It will make for smoother starts At the outset.

Not exactly.
That's only necessary when operating conventionally. Under DCS, just turn on power and press Startup. 
Thank you , Yes I do that all the time. I always replace all mt PS1 and PS2 locomotives with BCRs as soon as I get them and have the Dallee version in my TMCC engines so I wont have to worry about battery leakage.
