Bought a used ( C7+) 2343-100 motor off the "bay". Was concerned about starting voltage between this new one and the good one I still had. The starting voltages were exactly the same!! 4.87V. What are the odds that would happen? New brushes, cleaned armatures, drop of oil in each. They run perfect together. Guess I got lucky this time. Save $100 also. Happy thanksgiving everyone. Rob

When I did my dual motor Lionel Phantom upgrade, I never checked to see if the motors matched exactly.  Truthfully, I can't imagine it making a lot of difference.  I took an old MPC chassis with a matching Pulmore and cobbled it into the Phantom, it worked perfectly.

The rear motor is obviously much older than the original front motor, but after adding the ERR AC Commander, this is a sweet running locomotive, it runs rings around the original single motor operation.  I did basic PM on the second motor, new brushes, cleaned the commutator, and lubed it before installing it.

You would have to have a rather large mismatch in order for it to be an issue with these motors.  Given that they have back driveable gears and will adjust to small variances, it's a pretty smooth operation as a rule.
