My 671 from 1948 was running fine then stopped.  The e-unit would cycle but the motor would act like it wanted to run but seemed to be binding.  I took it out, rolled the chassis to see if something was binding it but it rolled freely.  loosened the brush plate cover and cleaned the armature as best as I could and also cleaned all the grease on the gears.  Turned the armature by hand and did not feel any binding.  What am I missing?  Does anyone think its the motor or is it the e-unit.  Usually on my other locos when the e-unit goes bad the motor doesn't try to run.  Any ideas?

Thanks

Bruce

Just tried it again, the motor acts like it wants to go forward or reverse and engages but won't complete the deal.  Took the motor out of the chassis and it rolls freely so I don't think anything in the chassis itself is binding up.  Turned the armature by hand again, it turns but not really as freely as I would think, maybe thats normal?
