I have a cousin's 675, and am trying to see if the thing works.  Cleaned outside, lubed it, and placed it into a foam cradle.  Placed power on it from the 1033.  It cycled into neutral and cannot get out.

675's are a PITA to get into.  If the e-unit gravity feed, will it change one it is on a regular track?  Will spraying the e-unit with contract cleaner help?

Thanks!

Yes, try contact cleaner, but first check to see that all wires are connected and that the "fingers" are making contact with the drum. See if the drum has been scorched or if the molded holding pins on end are damaged.   You may also have a problem with the plunger being magnetized--rare but it does happen.  The 675/2025 loco is rather complicated but it is a great engine.  Go to the web and try to pull up a schematic of the engine.  It will pay dividends.  Above all, be patient, especially when reassembling it.
