I have a PW lionel 2065 that fried it's smoke unit a little over a year ago, and I replaced it with a fluid heater built to fit into PW smoke chambers. For the past year, it has smoked better than ever, and then this week, it just stopped smoking. I opened it up and isolated the smoke unit, and it didn't produce even the slightest whisp of smoke. The wick jacketing is black on both ends and very brittle, and the windings on the heater had a break right in the middle. Could it be due to an excess of fluid? Or is the voltage a little too much for the part and I should add a resistor? Anyone else have experience or a solution for this? I don't want to rush to buy a new one yet if it'll do the same thing.
