Hey all...

 

 This is a spur track.  I think that's what you call it.  Regardless, it's a route that cuts off from the mainline and runs through two business areas, then joins back up with the mainline.

 

I noticed a couple years ago the railroad came in and cut out about a 50 foot section of one rail, and laid it on its side.  Hasn't been touched since.  No trains have come down this siding from either direction since.

 

I did try to look for telltale signs of abandonment such as signs posted at the two grade crossings saying such, and there aren't any.

 

What is the purpose of this?    Is this to "abandon" the track or prevent it's use?

 

Just curious.
