QSI decoder installation W/MTH smoke unit

I intend to install a QSI 6 amp Magnum sound with motor control decoder along with a MTH ps1 smoke unit. I would like the smoke to puff via a cam on the drive axle. The loco is a Sunset  4 8 4 u3b and will be operated on strait DC voltage.  I would appreciate any tips from those who of have done similar projects.

I installed the 6 amp QSI Titan Magnum in my Sunset UP 844.  I found installation and programming to be fairly straightforward.  And I'm pleased with the motor control, sound and lights.

 

But, I'm DCC and smokeless.  Maybe someone else can help you with the smoke.  

 

I'm curious as to why you're planning to install a premium QSI Ttan Magnum decoder if you're not going to run DCC?.

 

 The schematic below is from the QSI Solutions website.  Looks like there are a couple of options for smoke unit/chuff cam/reed switch installs.
