You bet!
I linked this topic to the Pre-York breakfast topic so people can use this for the dinner on Thursday night.
I plan to attend.
Arnold
That is the link to the York Pre-Meet Breakfast.
Absolutely! It goes hand in hand with the Meet itself!

Approximately what time on Thursday evening is the OGRR forum gathering?
Whenever you get there, people start arriving a bit before the halls close as a rule.
John is right on the money. Usually getting there later means less seating, at least in most cases. I know the first time I attended it was packed. Got there earlier the next time, and it was packed, but with a bit more elbow room. When you leave is up to you as a great bunch of conversations can be had the entire time you are there. Peter helped break the ice the first time I was there, got introduced to John, Don and quite a few other. It is always to chill for quite a while and talk trains, gossip, and anything else that comes up.
If you think that there are no train folks there, you are on the wrong side of the bar. Last year the River City 3 Railers had a table before going to the back part of the bar. That has happened before, usually everyone is in the back later on if they weren't there from the start. Definitely have a blast, and a blast without me. I wish I could make it, it will have to wait.
Thanks, Dave, I will be wearing an OGRR cap to help you Forum folks recognize me.
The main reason I'm going to the York show is not the trains (heaven knows I have enough of them), but the people. Arnold
The OGRR folks tend to sit in the back of the place based on my last two times there. When you walk in the door, just walk back, there is a section that is semi by itself, that is where you will find people. Kind of hard to miss. I usually wander over around 6'ish
I just want to take this opportunity to thank ALL of you that have kept this tradition going! It is a testament to the great folks that are on this forum. So many of us have bonded through the forum and the OGRR get together gives us a chance to meet in person. I can't tell you how many life long friends that have been made because of this tradition. I am so grateful for all of you!

Well said and so true!!
The only bad thing is the fact the place now closes at 10 pm instead of 1 am! Now Erol and I get out of there before midnight!

Lol...in my defense, I can walk to my hotel, but yes, it's the reason I never make any of the Friday morning events and my average arrival time to the meet is 10 am!
The worst time was the year everyone convinced me to by 1 of the 2 Y3s in PRR livery that Mr Muffins had on clearance - had a really hard time being at his booth 30 seconds after the meet opened Friday morning. Heck, I beat him there but he had 1 engine left which I promptly purchased. After putting it in my trunk I reclined the car seat and took a 90 minute power nap.

With the earlier closing, you can get up comfortably and be at the meet on time on Friday!

You'd think, but there's always an after-party going on somewhere! And with me being from "Philly" and my club-mates being from "New York" I'm always the target of their abuse! lol

Arnold, it is not hard for train folk to recognize train folk. Usually we still have our badges on when we get there. It's just like wearing a hat but with your name all over it. You will be among good people(naturally). If any of the folks from the NJ HiRailers are there, be sure to talk to them if you are able between the drinks. They usually close the place(before the time of closing has changed).

Alan forgot to add, please take pictures while there, and toast to great train friends both there, not there, and no longer with us.

Haha, got that right John. Somehow I always seemed to wake up way before my alarm went off. This made me go eat breakfast earlier, and arrive early enough Friday morning to hear the music. The other time I was up early for Friday was out to Strasburg for 611 where I spotted Skip and Gary(in 2019).
The RC3R guys usually get there between 5:30-6.
Looking forward to it!
Peter
I will be there.I always enjoy this get together at Quaker lube.
Hope you all are enjoying dinner. Tonight spaghetti with sausage, diced pepper in the sauce. Hope all have had a great York so far. Enjoy.

It's official! A short while ago Bob, Erol and myself kept our streak of closing Quaker Steak and Lube alive at 22 Yorks and counting! Of course its a lot easier to do with a 10 pm closing time instead of a 2 am closing time but a streak is a streak. The after party is going strong in room 219 at the LaQuinta thanks to Ted "Mr Malomar" Bertiger!
ETA on arrival at the meet tomorrow is now Noon! Lol
-Greg
So Im wondering how much do you all budget for these After Hour Food meets? I feel Like you need to bring at least $400.00 for food alone! Pre meet Breakfast, Quaker Steak and Lube, and then there's lunch each day?

When I attend, I always have a budget of food figured into things. Sometimes I keep that separate from my train money, still in the wallet, but separate.

I usually budget $250 for food and drink for 2 days. The biggest expense is Thursday night at Quaker Steak - about $100 give or take but then I'm there 5 hrs or so socializing so it's money well spent to me. It's also why that except for once I always stay at the Best Western or LaQuinta - I don't have to drive as they're in the same complex as the restaurant.

Ah that stinks. Last year on Saturday, he, gunrunner John and I had breakfast for our last day at York. Good talking, was a good day too.
Leaving the hotel this morning I ran into after party host Ted "Mr Malomar" Bertiger himself. He said he was feeling fine but check out the top of the vehicle near the back.

Yep, Greg caught me almost napping waiting for Ed to get in the car so we could head over to the fairgrounds. I forgot about the coffee cup on the roof until Mr. Quaker Steak & Lube early closer was leaving LaQuinta.
BUT, the question still remains about the cup contents? The leftover remains from the Amaretto De Saronna bottle or the free coffee?
Also, the real party was 2 doors down at 215 going into the early am!!
Great event last night as always.
Peter

I've been hoping for some. If I was able to make it, I would have shot a few.
