Here is the 2014 1st Quarter Report on the AT&SF 2916 restoration.  This work is being undertaken by the New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Historical Society in Albuquerque.  This work is being performed by a volunteer labor.  They estimate that the first excursions will be in two years.

This group really has had to bust there buns for years on this locomotive..outdoors, the heat, the cold, the wind ect.  After the burglary and theft of parts I was really worried that they would have a hard time getting past that, but they did and with flying colors.  It is going to be a great day to see a 2900 on the rails again.

The Week Ending 5/3/14 report states that they accomplished everything so far with 104,298 volunteer hours.  They have had about $1M in donations of money and services. If you value the labor at a very modest $20/hr then they woulf have $3M invested so far.

Here's a neat picture from the 2013 Quarterly Report.

Quadcopter drones are not the only way to get a good vertical view of the 2926 restoration site. This photo is included for our founder, Ed Bukove, a former hot air balloonist who now resides in Illinois.
