Here's the question. I have a conventional running Christmas Layout. I took out my MTH Premier PS2 Consolidation to run on the layout. Hadn't run it since last Christmas. Put it on the track and powered up.
It seemed to initiate the typical MTH Proto 2 start up. Then the
whistle blew and it went dead. Figured it might be the battery.
Replaced it with a BCR and now when I power it up the whistle keeps
repeatedly blowing and when hitting the direction button it goes about 3 feet and
stops, in both directions. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Besides the Tether issue, which you can wiggle to seem if it effects the symptoms, I would ensure the pickups and wheels are clean, including inside the rollers.  If still an issue make sure the motor leads are not touching or shorting to ground/frame/motor.  Though this also makes the motor want to run on its own.  G

Thanks to my forum Buddies. I took the Consolidation apart and found a stray piece of what appears to be wire insulation that was caught up in the wheels. I found no place where it looked like it might have come from so I assume it to be stray. I reseated the tether and fired her up. Running like a champ! Thanks to all.
