I just received my UP coach today, and more or less scratched my head the minute I opened the box. The next minute I grabbed the computer and started looking for a photo, which in the last several hours, I cannot find.

Here is the car:

While I'm by no means a UP expert, I've never seen a Pullman lettered coach, and I've been trying to put the pieces I do know together/could figure out and I just cant get there.

I get the cars are B&O cars (i.e. the window arrangement is wrong), but every photo of a coach/chair car I find says UNION PACIFIC above the windows. Does anyone have a photo of this paint scheme on a coach (if the photo has a date (year) on it, even better)?

Thanks!

Its not a 2 rail car, its a 3 rail car (although I dont think that matters in this case) and if you compare it to the car in the photo on ebay, it differs in its lettering. I ordered the car expecting to get a UP lettered car like the one in the photo on ebay, hence my surprise on arrival. If you recall, there were no images in the announcement of these cars, it was just a reservation form that came out about the same time that the sleepers were delivered.

Well Folks, Looks like I missed this one.

If you want your car relettered, please mail it to:

You can't ask for an importer to do much more than that. Mistakes happen. It's how you handle them that makes the difference.

Way to go Scott!

PS:  I got three and they're gorgeous. Good eye Boilermaker.

Sleeping cars on Union Pacific trains would have been lettered "Pullman" at sometime in history. After WW2 the government went after the Pullman Company and broke it up. Pullman continued to operate sleeping car service for some period of time until it went out of business. Many of the cars were transferred to railroad ownership.  At one time Pullman was considered to be the largest hotel in the United States based on the number of beds they filled every night. Pullman only ran sleeping cars and a few lounges and dinners.  As far as I know they never ran any coach service.

They replaced "PULLMAN" with "UNION PACIFIC"....but does it still have "Union Pacific" on both ends of the car on both sides, or did they remove those?
