When using my Lionel KW...the bottom "A" Handle wants to barely clip the Red Light on the Transformer....like its too close? Any ideas as to why?

It may be cracked or broken causing it to droop. OR it's just pressed on too tight. Both the handles are pressed onto the same location. Just lift the the assembly a little.
from Lionel's Service Manual, "To Remove Voltage Control Knobs - Use two screwdrivers placing each on on the opposite sides of knob as far under the body of the knob as possible. Lift both screwdrivers simultaneously pulling handles upward."
(to prevent notches in knobs, use spackling knives.)

Susan is giving you good advise, also many the of replacement light covers for these
KW transformers were just a might taller than the originals, Susans fix still applies.
I found this out because long ago I lost the red one and the new cover was slightly higher than the original. I took a dremel tool and skimmed the bottom of the cover,
if you do this make sure you account for the threads.
