Running trains on my new 12'x11' Fastrack outer loop. At full power using a Z-1000 my Proto 2 MTH RS-3 travels at a good pace. My WILLIAMS GS-4 races around the track leaning at the corners. Finally, and herein lies my concern, my LIONEL EM-1 Yellowstone manages a steady by decidedly moderate pace. I'm guessing the big engine just takes more power to run and perhaps might be geared lower as well. Can you offer me any insights on this? Thanks all.......

Are you running all of these conventional, command, mixture, what?  If you're running an engine with cruise control conventionally, it will need more voltage to run at what you consider a "normal" pace,  Also, some engines do have a lower top speed by the nature of their design.  My Shay locomotives are quite slow, even at full throttle, that's normal.  In real life, they rarely would top 15 MPH.
