Question about the Budd Units in the Lionel 2023 V1 catalog | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

On pages 72-73 the combo (two units) has one powered and one non-powered unit. My question - Is the single unit for $400 also powered? For example is the Alaska 711 a powered unit that can be operated on its own?

Good Question. The Pics shown in the latest catalog appear to be MTH designed Budd RDC's rather than Lionel Postwar RDC's.

I would think yes. If you look at the pictures you can see smoke for some units but not others. So there's your difference. Assume that means the Alaska #711 is a powered unit. And for $399 MSRP I would hope so.

Hard to tell but the shell indicates it’s non powered.
