Has anyone had any issues with the whistle steam smoke effect on their Lionel Light Mikados? On my 587 it constantly shoots smoke fluid droplets out of the whistle steam hole and has been like that ever since I first got it. Has anyone else had an issue similar to this?

Does it still do it?
Love this feature but it does have it's issues.
I wish it was available in PRR- they used light Mikados, I think.
I have the same issue with the latest(Spirit of Norfolk) "J". The plug is not tight and is slightly out of alignment. There is not a tight seal, so the "smoke" escapes. It does come out of the whistle also, but I would prefer a much tighter fit at the fill hole This is a quality control matter. I plan to try to get a replacement. Otherwise loco is great.

Can't remember whether it's specifically stated in the Owner's Manual or not, but Mike Reagan (when he was at Lionel) did an Instructional Video for a 'whistle smoke' equipped steamer in which he said when filling the chamber for the ws also put one drop on the rubber O-ring to make a seal.
All the Lionel engines with the same dual smoke unit do it. Not just the light mikado but the latest Hudson’s also. In fact I just posted this very thing in the Lionel service section of the forum
