Barry,    I am working on the clubs layout , trying to get the Legacy, TIU and a custom DCS system to pair up and connect.

We have 5 TIU's in super TIU mode, legacy base and a custom computer based DCS system.  I have connected the legacy through MTH's legacy/TIU cable with DBY9  Y cables so the wireless and boost system can be connected.

The Proto systems work fine, but the legacy is spotty, 1 in 5 times we can get a programmed diesel to respond. I have the legacy base hooked through TIU 3 as that is the 1 closest to the control station. Should I be on TIU 1?

The legacy remote works just fine , it is the MTH remote function for TMCC engines we are having fits over.

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Tim,

The system is up and running, the only issue we have is the MTH TMCC function, the MTH system is fully operational, as is the Legacy/TMCC.

We have never gotten the pairing between MTH/Legacy and I am working on this, but the systems work well independently of each other.

Bring your trains and have fun.

I know TMCC engine must be added  to the TIU the TIU/command base cable is plugged into. I don't have any legacy but suspect the same thing applies.

A few observations...

  • It matters not at all what TIU is connected to the Legacy base, however, each time that you add a TMCC/Legacy engine you must tell DCS the correct TIU number.
  • Some MTH cables won't work with the Legacy base. You should use an MTH #50-1032 (or, possibly, the very first #50-1007) cable.
  • If the engines work at all from the DCS Remote the cable is installed with the correct end in each device.
  • When issues occur, observe whether or not the command bases's red LED blinks when the DCS Remote issues a command that doesn't work. If it does blink, the engine's TMCC ID# may have been entered incorrectly. If the LED doesn't blink, the TMCC command isn't getting to the command based.
