So my cousin and I are taking this Saturday's Reading and Northern "Reading Rambles" excursion to Jim Thorpe and back. I was wondering is there food for passengers or should we bring our own snacks? We are riding the dome car.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

they have a snack car. i know when we went on the pullman car a small snack pack was given to us. not sure about the dome, never rode that one. however, its not like you're on the train all day. its only 2.5 hours and then you're in JT where you'll spend 3 hours or so at lunch time.  Molly Maguire's is pretty good! we ended up not eating the snack pack they gave us. as for calling the R&N, its rare they answer the phone. leave a message and they usually call back within the hour.

Rode in the dome last trip. There were snacks and drinks available in the car. Lunch in Jim Thrope is another matter. My wife called all the places open for lunch and no one takes reservations. Given the usual J T crowd plus the Ramble and everyone following the train its crowded. Walked up W B"way, lines at all the places. We went up the hill to the last restaurant, Marion Hose Bar. My wife got on line, I counted and she was 30th, and I sat on a bench across the street. Took about 30 minutes to get a seat at the bar. Food and the bartender were great. Would recommend that one. I guess the other option would be a lunch pail like we did in school.

Double header, the dome, and the crowds all made for a wonderful time.

Thanks for the tip! Yes I called the RR and left a message. A lady from the RR called back and concurred in the dome car there will be SOME light snack and beverage for patrons of the dome car.  There is a 3.5 hour layover in Jim Thorpe for those to experience the town and grab some lunch. The RR allows you to bring snacks BUT NO ALCoHaulic [HaHa] beverages allowed - including those hard teas and infused energy drinks.
