How do Gargraves code 100 switches compare to any brand 072 ?
Replies sorted oldest to newest
I thought code 100 was an HO term for rail height. in general Ross are the best, the newer gargraves are better than the old gargraves
It's a Number 100 switch, not code 100. It represents an 11 degree turnout. An O-72 switch is more like 22 degrees?
The GG 100 may be the best switch that GG makes but it's not as good as anything from Ross or even a FasTrack O-72.
Ross 100/101 switch pdf. Note that this switch diverges straight, 11 degree.
Ross O72 switch pdf. #125/#126, Note the O72 diverges with a curve.

MikeCT,
The Ross PDFs you posted are identical.

I think the newer Gargraves switches in 072 don't have this flaw, the center rail power is not continuous or it stops at the entry point of the switch. The Gargraves 072 switches from about 11 to 15 years ago had that problem, and you had to supply center rail power to both(curved and straight) outgoing sides of the switch.
The other thing that I have seen with Gargraves switches is in the 042 switch the outside rail on one side is plastic shaped.
