Yes, I've been running my Legacy plenty, so when I fired up one of my TMCC engines I got a bit confused.
Should TMCC engines have their cab lights go out when they are in motion? The engine in question is my WP F3 AA 14587.
Thanks!!

No, cab lights only go off on legacy locos.
Rick O hit the nail on the head, TMCC cab lights will remain on while in motion.
Alex
Thanks guys! I won't tell you how many times I reprogrammed the engines yesterday!
On my TMCC NYC F3's I cut the wire to the cab lights... Big improvement
I painted the cab lightbulb on my 11105 Mohawk with some yellow paint . It looks better to me now. It was too bright before but now is more lantern like.

I install a little board for Rule-17 lighting and cab light control, so the cab lights are off when running, on with stopped. That way I can see the cab figures when stopped, kinda' like real life.
I usually pull out the cab lights in my TMCC stuff. Real trains don't run with their cab lights on anway. We don't want people to see what we're doing in there
the cab lights are usually so bright they are distracting.

LOL - When I saw J Daddy's response I wondered how PO'd he was to clip the wires!! My thought was the bulbs. Coming OUT today!!
Thanks everyone for all the responses!
And I on the other hand wish the lights stayed on in my Legacy locomotives. To each their own.
It would be fairly easy to turn the cab lights on permanently in your locomotive, but I personally work to make them not work that way.
I agree all older tmcc dash 9 I just remove the cab lights it makes the engine look so much better when running
I made this little module for diesel use. With it I can do cab light control, Rule 17 lighting, and also have two level smoke volume, I cut the volume when the engine is stopped. The diagram shows how I hooked it all together, and the second diagram is the circuit on the board.
The board is simple on concept, it senses whenever the drive motor has voltage, one presumes at that point you're moving, or you will be really soon. At that point, the relay is engaged. Once the motor is no longer receiving power, the relay drops out. With a DPDT relay, it's possible to do the functions I described with a standard TMCC electronic package. The actual board is only about 1" x 1/2" x 1/2", so it fits into almost anything. The diode pairs illustrated to drop the smoke heater voltage can also be a couple of 1 amp bridge rectifiers wired as diode pairs, that is a little more compact than the individual relays.
As you can see, I think it's pretty cool when the cab light comes on when I stop and turns off when I'm moving.
Great job gunrunner looks like your creation gives owners of older engines the best of both worlds keep it up
For those doing semi-permanent disassembly/modification (cutting wire, removing bulbs/LED, etc), why would you not just hit AUX-2 to shut the light off? (unless maybe not using command) I think the loco latches to remember the light is off once you do it (unless you reset the engine).
Am I missing something?
Goofy weekend moment.... my bad..
Dave, you're missing the fact that the cab lights don't react to AUX-2 on 99% of TMCC locomotives.

OOooooops.....brain f@rt...
Even though I read the topic, all the posts and know that AUX-2 is the headlight, not the cab-light I goofed...
I swear, I wasn't drinking this afternoon!
