Have a couple of questions on painting my Lionel 158 engine in black.
This engine was purchase as a basket case. Ir was repainted in silver, had one original dummy headlight and the other was just a part of the dummy headlight. Was able to find two original lights for replacement. The engine does run just a bad pickup and one bad wheel. This is a easy paint and rebuild, just fun.
The question that I have is that I would like to paint the engine black after I strip the paint. Greenberg's book states that the 158 black engine did not have any gold trim on the side hand rails and that there was no trim around the engines side windows.
Does anyone have a original black 158 that they can prove this?
Greenberg's also stated that the gray & Green loco had red around the window?
What cars did this car pull or were included in a set? Freight? Passenger?
