So, I finally got my 2 rail tuscan croc.  It seems the 3 rail models and the green ones have been out for a while now, but this guy was well worth the wait as he is the most faithful to the prototype.  As has been discussed on this board before, the appearance of the MTH model represents the loco in its early years, when it only wore the brown paint scheme.  Combine that fact with the scale wheels and this shapes up to be a fine model.  What I'm less sure about is the sound system.  Perhaps someone who has heard the real engine can comment on this.

Since this model represents the croc in its early years, running with both pans up should be correct.

Note the red front light can be activated.  Supposedly this indicates wrong main running?

With some Swiss 2 axle freight wagons we're ready to go.
