R-27 Turnouts

I know that they will work well with American Models  #5 Turnouts which are very close to 27" radius 

ES44's and SD70's are fine on R20 and R27.

I remember reading Rustys review of the SD70 he purchased along time ago and he said R29/R30 curves was about all one would do with fixed pilots.

Do you guys think the SD70 pulling the well cars will work with fixes pilots on R27 without issues?

That was with Kadee couplers:

I have no idea what the minimum radius would be with fixed pilots and Flyer couplers, as the couplers on a following Flyer freight car doesn't move independently of the truck like a Kadee does.

The overhang of a fixed pilot on 29" radius is fairly severe:

I do not mine the moving pilots on the SD-70s and ES 44 since the only one that moves is the one attached to the train and it is not that noticeable. It's better than the wide openings on Flyer and American Models IMHO.
