I have a Lionel TMCC locomotive that was recently repaired by Lionel (replaced a can motor). So far I've only been able to run the locomotive conventionally with my GW180 controller since Lionel also has my LEGACY Cab-1L/Base-1L Command Set for TMCC-related issues. This is the first time I've run the locomotive and I've noticed the front headlight/marker lights are always on regardless of direction. The rear headlight is off when the locomotive is moving forward but so are the rear marker lights. In reverse, both the rear headlight and marker lights are on.

Once I get my command set, is it plausible to think an R2LC reset will correct this? The headlights and marker lights work opposite of each other on my Lionel LEGACY and Atlas TMCC locomotives.

A reset might be in order. I have a few TMCC diesels, and the marker and running board lights are always on. Changing direction should only turn the appropriate headlights on or off. It's also possible that there could be a wiring short or the R2LC board might be damaged, but try the reset first.

Yeah, I saw that in the back of the instruction manual. I just have to get my command set back from Lionel.

I was having issues running my Atlas TMCC SD40 with my CAB-1L/Base-1L Command Set. I even sent the locomotive back to Atlas thinking there was something wrong with it. Their head service tech tested it with a 990 LEGACY Command Set and said it ran fine. He experienced the same issues I did when using the CAB-1 "Lite." He said he was going to try and "tune" the command base to improve the TMCC signal. Apparently, Lionel is going to do the same thing.

Interestingly, I had no problems whatsoever sending commands to my LEGACY engines. Even my ProtoSound 3 locomotive worked fine, albeit in conventional mode.
