If you have aa radioactive waste car and the lamps have either burned out or have come loose from their tiny wires that connect them to the copper strips inside the containers, you can go about activating the waste using LEDs and a 9 volt battery.

First remove the containers from the car, pretty easy huh.  Then remove the red inserts from the containers.  There are two bumps on the red insert that lock into the openings on the containers.  Simply press these two bumps inward and pull out the red insert.  Easier said than done if you don't have skinny fingers.

Remove the lamps and find a new home for them in the nearest trash can.  Clean the copper strips with a pencil eraser so that you will be able to solder the LED leads to them.  I chose to use three red blinking LEDs in each container.  I twisted the three long stems together then soldered a resistor to them.  I also twisted the three short stems together.

Solder the other end of the resistor to one of the copper strips and solder the twisted together short stems to the copper strip catty corner to the first one.

Next i installed a nine volt battery holder under the car with double sided foam tape.  To make sure the battery holder would not be too low I filed off the simulated structural members under the floor of the car.  The wire leads from the battery holder were soldered to the same places as the original wire leads coming up from the trucks.

Some photos to make things bit more clear.
