I'm posting today because I've been sitting on the sidelines taking in all of your inputs and it's time to participate. I got the inspiration to do this from Lee Willis. His secret missile base project got me thinking about radomes, which I worked with years ago.
In addition, other posts were talking about what unique things we've done; what problems have you solved, etc.
So, I've included just a few photos. I had to spend <$9.00 for the plastic pipe and styrofoam ball. Everything else I had on hand. I love lights, and the effect of the radome is from a single yellow bulb. I put a vehicle and figure near the front door for a perspective on the size. Besides taking up a small space, I needed a place to put a speaker for another building behind it. The last photo shows how that fits. The sound is not distorted and plays the theme to James Bond...but that's another post for another day.
Thanks Lee and many others for the incentive to participate and get off the sidelines. Your expertise and projects are inspiring.
I'm already working on exterior lights and the next version will have a larger platform with see thru mesh.
