I bought a new RK SD70. It would stall at the same place going straight through a fastrack switch. I checked for power and continuity. Everything seemed fine. Everything on the loco checked out too. The only thing I could figure is the pick up was shorting on the rail. So I put a piece of electrical tape on it and it worked. It will going through the turn out in all directions and speeds now.
I also wanted to thank everyone on here. This place has so much information. I bought a DCS system second hand. I couldnt create a lash up to save my life. It kept giving me a engine not on track error. I found on here to try updating the firmware. And it worked like a charm.
The last issue I’m working on I’ve already posted about but I figured I’d share it again here. I have an GP38 proto2 I bought used. I replaced the old battery with an energizer rechargeable 8.4v. It worked really well. Then just stopped. I replaced the speaker and still no sound. It runs and the lights work. I tried resetting the loco from the DCS controller and that didn’t work. I’m going to try again since I’ve updated the DCS firmware. If that doesn’t work next step is take it apart and check the boards
