How many different Lionel RS boards did they make? RS, RS 2, RS 3, RS 4, and RS 5 ? Are they all interchangeable when wanting to test sound boards? Thanks, Art

Actually, the RS boards 2.5 and lower are a totally different design. RS3 and beyond were the modular boards that have the 24 pin connector and plug into a standard motherboard. I test any modular RS board on my little test set with an R2LC-C08 and the generic RS power supply board, I've never had any issues testing with that combo.
The RS 2.5 and earlier are different and you'll have to wire them into your test rig.
Here's the RS 2.0 board.
A RS 2.5 board.
The RS 3 board.
A RS 4 board.
And the RS 5 board.
GRJ, nicely done !!!!!!! Thanks, Art
Dumb question but does RS stand for Radio Signal ?
What is the function of this board ?
Rail Sounds?
Rail Sounds?
I was thinking of the radio receiver board....
Well it's time to give up on the RS5 board. Replaced T2322 and 2N5551. Reset eng.# and aux 8. No joy. Can I change the RS 5 chips into a PCB1-04C RS 3 board that works? Thanks, Art
RS4 chips work in an RS5 board, but I believe going the other way doesn't work. You an buy the bare RS5 board from Lionel.
