On the way to visit my aunt in DE my wife and I spent yesterday in Strasburg, PA. More accurately she dropped me off in Strasburg and went to the outlets in Lancaster.

It has been five years since I last visited the Railroad Museum of PA. Since I was not rushed I got to spend quite a bit of time there and took many photos.

I also got some photos of the Strasburg Rail Road.

Links to the photos I took can be found on my web site. Cursor down to the "What's New" box for the links.

I'm doing the same thing in a couple weeks (being dropped off by the wife), so maybe you can help me out. How long would you say it takes to go through the museum in a non-hurried but not incredibly through manner (i.e. looking at everything but not necessarily reading every word on every sign)? I also signed myself up for the Strasburg RR shop tour.

Boilermaker1,

I spent about an hour and a half at the museum. I was able to walk around and get all the pictures I did, but in order to read all the signs, etc. you need at least 3 hours. I did the Choo-Choo Barn and Toy Train Museum last year. If you plan on doing them all you need at least the whole day.

The Strasburg RR is a real class act. On one visit, Jan and I got on the train, on a warm sunny day in June,  with a picnic lunch, our cameras, and reading material. We got off at groff's Grove, enjoyed our lunch and relaxed in the shade, watching the trains go by, the horse-drawn action in the fields, and reading. It was like a peaceful Sunday afternoon in days gone by. Fantastic!
