I went railfanning with my college roommate, who I discovered is a huge train fan (interesting coincidence, we are both music majors and train nuts). We went to Romulus, MI, where the Wabash east-west line (NS) crosses the CSX north-south line. We saw about 15 trains in the afternoon. The trains on the NS line (save for the light power moves) all flew through at 50+ MPH and the CSX all around 45 MPH. Below are a few notable catches
CP freight on the NS line. 125+ cars on this one
Light power leaving the New Baltimore auto ramp
CSX intermodal with trailing narrow-nose Dash 8
More light power out of New Baltimore
CSX vehicle train with an ICE SD40-2
Another CP freight on the NS. Again, 125+ cars
Coal train on the CSX
CP vehicle train on the NS
Even more light power, this time NS flavored and headed for Melvindale, MI
