Jim:
As a former resident of Carrick who took the "flying fraction" to Forbes Field to watch the then always last-place Pirates, I'm sure you meant "77/54".

Interesting video for us Pittsburghers, thanks for posting. Looking at the T-system map on the PAT website, I see that Bethel Village is the second stop inbound from South Hills Village. I’m familiar with the Library line but not with that section of the T Line.
I noticed the large number of out-of-service cars in the video and couldn’t tell which direction they were heading. At the spot where you were taking the videos, which direction was inbound (left-to-right or vice-versa)? If most of them were heading outbound to South Hills Village, isn’t there a maintenance facility for the T cars at South Hills Village? Also where do they store cars between rush hours (at South Hills Village or at South Hills Junction or somewhere else)?
Thanks,
Bill
Yes, it has been a long time. 44 was the Knoxville line. No matter the weather we rode to the end of the line at the "loop" then walked several blocks home.

Bill,
There is a very large T maintenance facility just beyond the South Hills Village stop. In the video, inbound to South Hills Village was from left-to-right, on the track closest to my vantage point. During Pirates and Steelers (Stillers) games downtown, I believe they store rush cars for post-game service at the end of track at Allegheny Station, right next to Heinz Field. I assume this is where they store cars in the buildup before rush hour.

The Trolley Museum in Wash, Pa. sells videos of the old trolley lines in the Burgh and I bought the one of the South Hills area. Shows the old inclines, too. What a hoot to watch plus all the old, cool cars they drove in those days.
Thanks for the video; inspiring me to come down south there from Erie...
