I do not have any experience with 022 switches, but I find when you have a locomotive that derails on a switch you need to watch it go through the switch very slowly. Study what the pilot truck is doing.

More often than not I find the pilot wheels hit the point of the frog and derail. This is usually fixable by adjusting the guard rail. See the sketches below for ideas. The sketches depict another track system, but the problems and corrective actions are similar to most track systems.

I got one of these for not this one, but the previous Christmas for my little brother, an I had a heck of a time with the truck derailing on many places let alone some switches.

To be honest, I do have a living room layout that has many tight turns, but it is all with in spec rail king track.

Basically for me I could see that yeah, the binding could be a issue, but didn't seem like I had much room to press the wheels in, plus often bends the shaft if you have a tight one an also can create clearance issues in other places.

For me what I did was I played around a lot with the front truck pressure spring.

One that came with it was like a baby spring an can't say all that I did in some way I could pass on, just was a trial an error thing until I found the right combo of heavier springs an washers an stuff like that, till it road right, but still didn't derail.

For me I have learned to get any trains at least a good month or two in advance of Christmas because no matter what I get has issues an I always have to do crap like this.

Nothing like paying the kind of money for these things they are to start with, then going all with one brand as it should just work for what ever related part there is, all to spend hours an days an weeks getting it to work.

Ok blue comet back in action daughter is happy that her train is not broke. I streto he'd the sping a little put o back on the track it jump track less made it around a few times then jumped track as before i could not get it through the switch at all then I took and stretched the spring to its extrem and bingo it works perfect put a few heavy load on it and ran it for about 15 min running through switches left and right fast ans slow and no problems. Thanks everyone for the help once again don't know what I would do if you guys where not here. Well I do know this engine would of sat in a closet for it's life.
