Recently, the rear tender truck apron broke on my Railking Norfolk Western J.  Unfortunately, you cannot buy JUST the apron; you have to buy the whole tender truck.  With that, MTH currently does NOT have the item-specific part, DA-1240040, in stock *SHOCKING*  Can anyone recommend an appropriate substitute that is not only fitting of this tender but also aesthetically pleasing?  I don't want to have to buy both front AND rear but would like them match so if necessary, I will.  Thank you everyone.

Thank you G for your feedback however, MTH parts are scarce so I'm trying to find a matching pair that would work well with this tender.  I'm not TOO particular but it just rubs me the wrong way that this metal-fatigue issue occurred in the 1st place.  Their email to me was that they were working to fill their inventory with Premier parts FIRST and everything else would come later...REALLY?!  So frustrating.

I had a problem with my MTH Railking Hiawatha 4-6-2; the zinc rot ate away at the drive wheels, rendering the engine useless.  Luckily, a friend had a chassis that worked with this engine and now all is well.  The clincher is that MTH new about the problem even years later and just shrugged it off.  Mike Wolfe would NOT be happy with the current state of his company...just my opinion.

David,

I hear ya, but ...

The zinc pest problem was present before Mike retired.

He didn't seen too unhappy about it, or the general state of MTH, at the time he left.

As far as how incoming parts are prioritized it seems to me if he we're still there he'd be doing exactly the same thing.  Premier before all.  He was, and still is, a good businessperson before anything else.

If he hadn't been MTH could easily have gone the way of K-Line.

Sorry that these situations upset you, but they really are among the littler problems in our modern world today, not the bigger ones.

Mike
