As I figure out building placements and certain trackside equipment locations, I am having issues with our sanding tower. The problem is the low hoses catching on to key locomotive parts. Railings and horns. The place I have spotted the tower will also be blocked to hold to engines when not in use. The tower will be a quarter inch higher but still very destructive to engines. I guess the main question is how other folks have placed there towers or modified them. Here are a few pics of what I am talking about. The open area under the engines will be filled in. Thanks for any input. Nick T.

Try moving it away from the track so the hoses drop next to the two tracks they are serving. Google images for "railroad sanding towers"
Thanks for the ideas, I have it a 1 1/4 inches off from the track. I was looking to see if I could alter to swing off to the side. Will do a Google search. Nick T.
Here is a shot of the Shaffer's Crossing service area in Roanoke, Va. Note how all of the servicing regalia hangs down in between both tracks. We would at times scrape a sand hose bringing units onto the pit if they weren't in their tie-up hoop. Also note the lines going to the fuel tanks on the hill to the right. To the left, the sand was off-loaded from trucks at the cream colored thing (just below the orange front end loader).

The hoses are not meant to hang above the tracks, they're meant to hang on the side of each track.
