Recently received a passenger car which was damaged in shipping.  The end of the box was crushed in shipping, causing the trucks to be forced inward, breaking the plastic where the truck connects to the bottom of the car.   I was considering gluing styrene to the bottom, then redrill the hole.  Just looking for input from this knowledgeable group as to the strength of the styrene and the proper glue to use.  Please reference the attached photos for more details.

Thanks in advance.

I've used Styrene and JB-Weld to repair several MTH Premier cars with the same kind of damage.

I'd consider finding the right sized washer and using that on the top layer with the mounting hole.  Grind off the half of the hole and secure the washer with JB-Weld to the frame.

Thanks John.  Sounds like a good option. I had considered placing a washer on the inside with a longer screw to attach the truck, but gluing to the bottom would negate finding a longer screw.

The key here is to take off some plastic so the washer ends up being in the position of the missing bolster, that way the car will sit level properly.  Once you get the washer positioned and glued in place, you can fill that hole on the side with additional JB-Kwik.

One trick with JB-Weld (or JB-Kwik) is you can use plain Scotch tape to shape a surface, the stuff won't stick to the glue side of the tape and it comes right off.
