Railroad demise in Eureka California

Ace, what does the bottom photo show?  Is it a paved-over crossing of the NWP?

What happened in the Eel River Canyon?  Eureka, with its logger's breakfast house, is

an interesting town, and beyond just breakfast.  Something large crossed the road

in a snowstorm in that area, when I was driving back down from a snowed-in

Crater Lake many years ago.

The bottom photo looks like an original section of old Hwy 101 which was turned into a scenic byway called Avenue of the Giants. However, the main highway still travels through some two lane sections surrounded by those beautiful redwoods. I highly recommend visiting if you get a chance.

Growing up in So Cal Dad took us to Redwoods or Yosemite 2-3 times a year.  We always thought everyone had parks like this around them. Both are wonders I am happy to have visited. THX

hello guys and gals..........

We visited there back in 2004 and never knew that there was railroad there. We planned to move there in 2016 due to my asthma and living near the ocean will help my breathing.  Is there a model train store there ?
