I think my wallet took off running the other day. If it could shoot me, it probably would.

WOW, that is some serious pulling power!  From what I hear, you can pull stumps with 4 Powered 3rd Rail units.

BTW - If your wallet runs past my place I will dash out and snag it.

Sounds like you have an interesting story to tell about that trip.  How about sharing it with us?

Yes we Did.  We are very much looking forward to receiving both the El Cap. and the Atlas Santa Fe ABBA's.

Though, I feel like we're in the same boat with Doug.  Wallet is on the loose, and is running as far away from me, as it can.

The CFO (Myself) & COO (Kyla) are both in agreement to reduce spending, and thus this combined purchase has consumed a very large portion of our FY2014 & FY2015 Budget's.

I hope my wallet returns soon.

bigtruckpete,

Expect to see one running at the Griffith club the first weekend in June at our FREE open house.

Ordered the El Capitan eleven car set along with three Amtrak coach cars to add to my K-Line Amtrak Superliners.

For power I already have in the diesel shed a MTH E8 ABA, ABBA F3, ABBA F7 and a K-Line ABBA F7 sets.  They'll also be used to power a six car Williams Santa Fe 21" Hi-Level set and a K-Line Super Chief set of 21" cars.

I love passenger trains!

No, this was January 1, 1966. Michigan State lost to UCLA. 14-12. Moo U.'s most famous player was Bubba Smith, who went on to a good career in the NFL. MSU cheered him on with "Kill, Bubba, Kill!"

Looks like Howard deleted his post.    That's curious?

There are those that have their doubts about me

Actually, I initially misread your post.  I thought you were referring to the 3rd Rail F7.  As I previously posted, I didn't order the El Capitan, past my modeling era since I run steam.

Regarding the F7's I ordered two Atlas and one 3rd Rail A-B-B-A sets of Santa Fe passenger units.  I would have ordered a Cat Whisker F7 freight set if 3rd Rail would have produced them.   I have to make up for my motive power losses since moving to 2 rail.  That should fill my passenger F unit roster, although I am considering one more in the future.

Great days for Santa Fe fans!

Rich -

Hang in there.  You never know when somebody will offer up a set at a good price.  The key is to be prepaired (and salt away some $$$) because it will probably happen when you least expect it and you don't want to hesitate.

I just ran across the GGD El Capitan topic by chance.  At that time I hardly ever visited the 3RS forum.  But for whatever reason I did on January 8th 2014.  Saw the topic and I was hooked.

Two days later, on January 10th I ordered the complete set.  Lucky for me I had 16 months to raise the cash.

I am pretty well versed on the El Cap as it has always been my favorite train.

I already own the complete Walthers HO El Capitan and that did not come easy.  Extra coaches were not made available   I had to monitor all the auction sites for somebody willing to break-up a set and that took a while.  I was able to pick up the needed cars from two different sellers.

BTW here is a link to that topic in case you want to see the firestorm it started.

Not a very interesting story. Just a dirty, uncomfortable train with bad food and surly, hostile service. I've had better train rides in Third World countries. The golden days of Santa Fe and Fred Harvey were long past. The best part of the trip was looking out the window. It was the first time I'd been out West and the scenery was wonderful.
