Rat Rod Buses For Superstreets

Very cool. Love this one.

 

NJCJoe that "bus" is a futurama bus that GM made to make a touring promotional show somewhat like the 1939 Worlds Fair Norman bel Geddes designed Furama display. The sides folded up and there were models and displays inside. Groups of these toured towns in the US until the 60's or so with updates and refinements. Definitly cool vehicles.

When I was a lot younger,I had the chance to see Ed Roth at the Tyrants custom car show at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino.This probably happened around '64 or so. I was so into his car kits and Rat Fink. "Big Daddy" Roth was just so cool.His custom show cars are some of the most sought after by collectors today,if they come up for auction at all.

 

He led a very interesting life after the craze, spiritual searching,sign painter for the Hollywood Wax Museum in Buena Park, a move to Utah and more work as a sign painter.

Big Daddy is missed by all true "kids" of that era. I suspect that we shall not see anyone like him again...

I love Rat rods.  A 'Streets version would be so cool.  I tried to make a version of Kookie's car (T-bucket) for 'Streets for my 77 Sunset Strip building, but I could not get a small enough motor to fit in a scale T-bucket.  I might try again, maybe with something a bit larger - it would still look cool.
