I'm disappointed that the Reading & Northern didn't use the Reading F unit color scheme on their set of Covered Wagons or the modern image green and yellow that the RDG adopted in the 60s. 

I'm well aware that you can't have a candy caboose and eat it too, but why not stick to the traditional schemes guys?

I’m glad they’re changing it up. They just unveiled a new freight scheme last month as well on an SD50. Looks phenomenal in my opinion! But to each his or her own.

One thing I miss about York is saying hello to Harry in the Orange Hall.  He does great work all around.  I especially love the correct detail on the rear as the original steam boiler on the prototype was replaced with an HEP diesel genset.  One thing I need to do to my Amtrak FL9s someday in my life as they got a similar treatment.

This looks great! Atlas makes some trainman coaches that are a correct color. I have a few. As well as rbmn box cars and coal hoppers. Having one of my nw2’s repainted to rbmn as well...... 

i also like the paint and really like the new scheme on 5018. 

Curious as to what condition the Premiere NS F units were in before you had them repainted?  The NS scheme is quite desirable.

Maybe because they're NOT the Reading? Why copy someone else when you own your own railroad?

Well, they idled a little rough and the brakes squealed, but nothing @gunrunnerjohn can’t take care of! 🤣😂

Magicland: Indeed, the R&N isn't the READING, but I feel that traditions help provide that "Down Home" feeling to it's residents in a world that's changing much too fast for many people.  I guess it comes down to "if I ran the railroad I'd do it my way..."

...and since I don't own the R&N, I do respect their decision to choose the colors of their own locomotive fleet. 

Item: How many railfans today mourn the passing of their hometown railroad when all that's left to remind them of better days when trains kept the tops of rails shiny is an abandoned weed grown right of way?  I'm well aware that it takes much more than a traditional color scheme to run a railroad.  When the railroad has left town for the last time, it's all over but the crying, right?

And there you have it!  That's why they painted the boiler jacket on their Pacific  steam locomotive, #425, blue. THAT isn't "Reading RR" either.
