Looks like pre-Conrail to me

Yuck. I hope it gets spruced up soon. Otherwise it explains why NS uses so much black paint!
This is one of the three I have yet to see leading and by far, I'm kind of glad for right now. That front Conrail patch on the nose is a joke, but honestly, takes the whole look away from the front. Also that side burn is not appealing. Being honest, I know there are all other NS units, but I kind of wish NS would touch up some of their heritage program. I don't mind when a units gets dirty looking, but when paint peels and like that burn mark, that's not appealing at all.
Just like when I saw NS 4004 this evening in Madison Ohio, I actually would of preferred if this unit was cleaner on the bottom half.

I agree that NS should clean up some Of the Heritage Units. For example, 1073 and 1067 have spots where the paint is just ruined. 1073 has a huge paint spot missing on the back radiator section, and the 1067 is well obvious with the burnt spot. The last time I saw the 911, it has a similar spot of paint missing near the cab. I’m sure there are others, but the locomotives deserve to be cleaned up to represent the railroads better. That’s just my opinion.
I still see the Reading unit as a good looking locomotive, and in some ways the scars help to legitimize the paint scheme, making it look like a hard working loco with a job to do.

I loved it when the heritage was done and I have seen allot of them in person. But let's be honest they are working machines and expecting NS to keep them looking new is not going to happen.
The next time each locomotive goes in for a major rebuild I would expect the heritage units to be painted in NS basic black scheme. The heritage schemes will not last forever.

I'm pretty sure either this unit or 1073 had its electrical cabinet take a dump so that could be why they don't look so appealing.
