Hey guys. Is there any Reading Lines historians out there?
What I have here is a chair from the Dining Car on the Reading Crusader.
History:
I purchased this chair back in the 70’s from a friend of mine who pretty much ate, slept and talked Reading Lines. He knew a lot of stuff and had a lot of local connections. Over the years, I have lost touch with him. This chair, I was told, was from the Dining Car used on the Reading Lines Streamlined Crusader train. It was purchased from a gentleman who had a vast Reading Lines collection of memorabilia and who owned multiple examples of this chair from the Dining Car. My friend purchased (2) of them and he sold me one. I have no recollection what I paid.
Fast forward 45 years or so, I have lost touch with my old friend. Other than the Historical Society, I have no other information available. Years ago, I had a black and white photo of the inside of the Dining Car that shows the tables and chairs. My chair certainly looks like one in the picture that I remember.
This chair has followed me around for most of my adult life. I would like to sale it but if that does not work, I may donate it to a historical group if it is indeed from the Dining Car.
Before any of that, I would like to verify what I have. Since the purchase was 45 years ago, I need to think that the chair is legit. My friend would not have purchased these if they were fakes. You can see the color. The construction of the chair is very robust. There are no markings on the chair that I can see.
So, just reaching out and asking for any help. Thanks for any replies.
